Oh New Year's resolutions... I suppose this year I only have one big resolution:
Get into shape!
The military told me they weren't interested in having me in their medical corps because I have asthma. I did some research and I found something saying I have the option of a waiver, if I can be cleared by my doctor and not use any asthma meds for one year. That means that not only do I have to get into good enough shape to pass their physical fitness tests, but I have to wheeze my way through it. Because by God, they WILL take me before year's end!
The plan is simple... eat better and exercise regularly! I'm only a few pounds under their weight limit, so I need to get into shape as well as lose some weight. I've got a binder all set up, and everything prepped to start running (a most hated but unfortunately necessary activity). No more soda as of 1/1/10, and minimize junk food intake. I can do this! In the past, I have failed miserably at trying to lose weight. The difference this time? A gigantic carrot hanging at the end of the stick called "U.S. Air Force Medical Scholarship".
They had better take me after all of this. I need to find a new recruiter, because I'm pretty sure my old recruiter blocked all my contact efforts after the word "asthma" came up. I've tried multiple times to get in touch and have had no success. I want that scholarship! If they take me, I'd be more than happy to put in 20 years with them! I'm not just looking for their money, I'm looking for a career.
So, tonight is the last night of my unhealthy lifestyle. Tomorrow, I break out the running shoes and hit the pavement!
